Trick Geography uses mnemonics, or memory tricks, to teach world countries, US states, Canadian territories/provinces, capitals, and physical features. It works like MENTAL GLUE! While suited for adults, it's easy enough for children! |
STATES AND COUNTRIES
First, we turn the random shape of a state or country into a familiar image that sounds like the name of the state or country. New York becomes a familiar stork. Morocco becomes a maraca. Students connect the dots to complete the images of a stork and a maraca. |
Stork=New York
Maraca=Morocco
CAPITALS
Capitals are presented
by adding a second image which
sounds like the name of the capital.
Albany becomes all bunnies.
Rabat becomes a robot.
A short sentence makes the connection.
Students circle the object and fill in the blanks.
"The stork scared all the bunnies."

the Gobi Desert is located?
